POPPY CAMPAIGN
Our Poppy Campaign is conducted from
September 15th to November 11th each year.
The first day for wearing the poppy is the last Friday in October as
set by dominion convention.
During the 2006 Campaign sale of
wreaths and donations realized a total of over $44,000.00. Some of
these funds have been dispensed for Veterans Comforts, College
Bursaries and Alta/NWT Command Poppy Fund. Funds donated are held
in a Poppy Trust and help support Canadian and Allied Verterans as
well as pay for the purcahse of personal or community medical
supplies and for the provision of bursaries to the children and
grandchildren of Veterans. For every donation received, a symbol of
Remembrance is provided either for persoanl or public display.
These symbols inclide lapel poppies and stickers, and wreaths and
crosses which are displayed or laid at cenotaphs’ and other
memorials across the Country and overseas.

All certificates have been presented.
We have a great team of volunteers
who assist in stuffing envelopes, phoning businesses, getting trays
ready for distribution, getting poppies ready for distribution to
local schools, sitting at tables in the stores and malls and
counting the donations as they come in. No one in the team is
paid. We owe it to the Veterans to aid and assist them in any way
we can under the strict guidelines as set forth in the Poppy Manual
for Dominion Command.
